South East Science Festival
Science Week is a week-long event in Ireland each November, celebrating science in our everyday lives. Science Week includes a wide variety of events involving industry, colleges, schools, libraries, teachers, researchers and students throughout Ireland.
South East Science Festival is the regional celebration of national Science Week offering a range of opportunities for the public to engage with STEM. Each year, the festival brings top scientists and science presenters from Ireland and abroad to Waterford city and county, Carlow, and across the Suir valley in museums, theatres, libraries, sports hall, heritage centres and more!

The 2023 theme ‘Human!’ is weaved throughout the Festival. Events take place for all ages and interests with hot topics such as AI, e- textiles, food and nutrition, sports, all connected with the theme of Science Week “ Human” and “what it means to be Human”.
In addition, our ever-popular weekend Family Fun days offer a jam-packed schedule of science fun for everyone to enjoy, inspiring scientists of the future and fostering an appreciation of science in every aspect of life.
This regional festival is coordinated by CALMAST. The national festival is supported by the Science Foundation Ireland.
