Climate Fresk

Audience: TY – Secondary School

CALMAST, the STEM Engagement Centre of the South East Technological University will be delivering Climate Fresk workshops to schools in the South East.

We are offering students a unique opportunity to engage with climate education in an interactive and collaborative setting.  Climate Fresk is a two-hour workshop held in your school, and is targeted towards Transition Year students. It aims to increase awareness and understanding of climate change through teamwork and critical thinking. The workshops are available to post-primary schools in Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford.

The workshops explore climate change themes, connect the dots between CAUSES and EFFECTS and players propose individual and collective solutions.

Here’s what you can expect from the Climate Fresk Workshop:

• Objective: The workshop teaches an understanding of the IMPLICATIONS of CLIMATE CHANGE. Using a  game-based approach, teams explore the CAUSE and EFFECT of climate challenges and potential solutions.
• Teamwork and Engagement: The facilitator guides teams  to navigate through a series of rounds where they discover, question and connect the cards to construct a Climate Fresk (Fresco).
• Creativity and Summary: By linking the cards and discussing the themes, teams learn about our delicate and systematic eco system.
• Emotions and Discussion: After discussing what has been learned, individuals are asked to make One Small Pledge to the Planet.

The workshop can accommodate 30 students. Access to a room with tables or desks is required. Large enough for 5 groups of 4-6 students around the tables.
