Tactile Geology
Audience: Primary school
An interactive earth science workshop for sight-impaired individuals. Through a voice lecture, soundscapes and touching different samples during a guided workshop by the Copper Coast Geologist, participants will explore minerals such as large mica flakes, pyrite cubes, and rock types like sedimentary rocks (conglomerates and sandstones, siltstones), among others. Participants will be introduced to the different kind of rock textures, weights and shapes and how these tell us about the natural world (i.e a why a sandy rock indicates a sedimentary formation and what the shape of a crystal tells us about its formation).
