About CALMAST Hub & Cluster Model
The South East STEM Hub and Cluster model pioneered by CALMAST harnesses existing resources in the region to create a sustainable ecosystem that will support and deliver STEM education and public engagement (EPE) across a area of 520,000 people. A radical change in numbers reached and depth of engagement is needed to meet Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland and Department of Education’s goals.
CALMAST is the STEM engagement Hub of South East Technological University (SETU) and leverages the considerable resources of the Institute’s staff, students, functions. This model mobilises the considerable, but fragmented and dispersed resources in the region, creating local partnerships of governmental bodies, NGOs, schools and industry. It is a new model for STEM EPE in Ireland.
Six regional clusters have been established in Waterford, Dungarvan, New Ross, Wexford, Clonmel and Kilkenny.
